Kalmar Automotive has launched the wonderful Squid 9×9 launched a dreamy retro hypercar that made its first appearance yesterday at the Monterey Car Week in The Quail, celebrated. The design of the conversion is of course unmistakably inspired by the legendary Porsche 959 inspired, although the German manufacturer is not mentioned by name in the references. However, the name "9×9" alone suggests that this is a homage to the 959.

But Kalmar goes one step further: The 9×9 is described as the “World's first retro hypercar“ and promises with its superior performance and the latest technology, a driving experience in a class of its own. Under the long cover of the Kalmar 9×9 is a 3,8-litre boxer engine with insane 930 PS, which transmits its power to all four wheels via a dual-clutch transmission.
A slightly more moderate variant, the 9×9 Sports, will soon be launched with “only” 650 hp and a seven-speed manual transmission. And for the ultimate purists, Kalmar also supplies the 9×9 lightweight construction – a version with a 4,0-litre naturally aspirated engine that only powers the rear wheels and ensures particular agility thanks to its low weight of 1.250 kilograms.
with carbon fiber body
And Lightweight is also the keyword when it comes to the construction of the 9×9. The entire vehicle is fitted with a carbon body and relies on a tailor-made double wishbone pushrod suspension with adaptive dampers. And to perfect the aerodynamics and achieve optimal downforce, special attention was paid to the interplay of retro design and state-of-the-art racing technology.
The Brake The Kalmar 9×9 consists of 3D-printed titanium calipers and ceramic discs, which are placed behind special magnesium rims. The interior, however, is dominated by ultimate minimalism: The 9×9 is designed for pure driving experience designed, so you won't find infotainment or a radio. Instead, it has digital LCD screens for the driver display and an integrated, hidden roll cage.
The price is not yet known
Despite the minimalist equipment, safety features such as stability and traction control are not neglected. Kalmar Automotive has not yet Price information made, but the company plans to deliver the first vehicles to customers in July 2025. The combination of the chic retro design, modern technology and limited availability already makes the Kalmar 9×9 a sought-after object among restomod fans.
